The Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, confirmed on the 9 November 2016 the establishment of and appointment of members to the Medical Scientists Registration Board, under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (amended). The first meeting of the board is scheduled for 30 November 2016.
The Medical Scientists Registration Board at CORU has statutory responsibility for:
- Establishing and maintaining a Register of members of the profession
- Assessing, approving and monitoring training courses for the health and social care professions under the Act
- Establishing the code of professional conduct and ethics and standards of performance to which medical scientists must adhere.
We look forward to working with the members of the Medical Scientists Registration Board to establish the register. The members appointed are:
Representatives practising in the profession
Representatives engaged in the management of services provided by the profession
A representative engaged in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession
A representative of the management of the public health sector, the social care sector or both
A representative of the management of a voluntary or private sector organisation concerned with health or social care
A representative of third level educational establishments involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession
Representatives of the interest of the general public
