CPD for Radiographers and Radiation Therapists

Radiographers Registration Board
Continuing Professional Development - Audit Communication 25 May 2020

Dear Registrant,

CORU and the Radiographers Registration Board recognise that registrants are at the frontline of the current COVID-19 pandemic and we offer you our support and thanks for the work you are doing in these unprecedented times.

As a registrant, the Radiographers Registration Boards Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics will continue to guide and assist you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date. The Board recognises that registrant’s professional development has escalated due to updates to work practices and changes in provision of treatment and care during the pandemic.

CORU understands that due to significant additional workload or personal circumstances, arising due to COVID-19, registrants may be concerned about keeping up with and recording their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

In consideration of these circumstances, the Radiographers Registration Board has taken the decision to minimise the burden of time and attention imposed on registrants for recording of CPD, and to cancel the audit process for Radiographers and Radiation Therapists scheduled for November 2020. It is envisaged that this will allow registrants to continue to concentrate their efforts on services users. The next audit will take place in November 2022 for the audit period 1 November 2020 ending on the 31 October 2022.

CORU is here to support registrants in whatever way we can. We thank all of you for your dedication and work during these difficult times.

Stay safe, mind your health and wellbeing, while continuing to protect the patients and service users in your care.

Radiographers Registration Board

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is one of the key mechanisms used to foster high standards of professional conduct and professional education, training and competence among registrants.

The Radiographers Registration Board Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics requires radiographers and radiation therapists to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. CPD is a mechanism for maintaining registrant’s professional knowledge and skills.

The Radiographers Registration Board, following consultation with its registrants and other stakeholders in 2019, have approved the:

  • CPD Guidance Document that provides direction for registrants on the behaviours required to support compliance with your Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics
  • CPD Support Document that offers tools that can help you as a registrant to build and demonstrate those behaviours and ultimately meet your CPD requirements under your Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics.
