Public Consultation: Health and Social Care Professionals Council Statement of Strategy 2027 – 2030

Background

CORU regulates over 38,000 health and social care professionals across twelve designated professions in Ireland. Our role is to protect the public by ensuring that registered professionals meet and maintain the standards required for safe and effective practice.

Since our current Statement of Strategy was launched in 2022, the level of activity across all of our functions as a regulator has expanded significantly. This document provides an overview of the implementation of the strategy and the key activities completed under each of the five strategic priorities.

We are now developing our Statement of Strategy for 2027–2030, and we want to hear from you.

The draft Statement of Strategy is available here. It sets out our five strategic priorities for the next four years:

• Building Capability and Scalability

• Supporting Safe and Effective Professional Practice

• Broadening Pathways to the Register

• Proportional Regulation for Public Protection

• Making the Value of Regulation Visible to the Public

These priorities have been shaped by engagement with stakeholders earlier this year, and by our consideration of the changing health and social care landscape in Ireland. We now want to test whether they reflect your experience and priorities, identify any gaps, and hear your views on whether the commitments we have made are the right ones.

How to respond

Please complete the short consultation survey below. The survey contains five questions and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The deadline for responses is 31 July 2026. Alternatively, you can submit your response by email to strategyandpolicy@coru.ie

All responses will be reviewed and considered as we finalise the strategy for submission to the Department of Health later this year. A summary of consultation feedback will be published on CORU's website.

Rialaíonn CORU breis agus 38,000 gairmí sláinte agus cúraim shóisialaigh thar dhá réimse dhéag ainmnithe in Éirinn. Is é ár ról an pobal a chosaint trí chinntiú go gcomhlíonann gairmithe cláraithe na caighdeáin atá riachtanach le haghaidh cleachtas sábháilte agus éifeachtach, agus go gcoinníonn siad suas leo.

Ó seoladh ár Ráiteas Straitéise reatha in 2022, tá méadú suntasach tagtha ar an leibhéal gníomhaíochta thar gach ceann dár bhfeidhmeanna rialála. Soláthraíonn an doiciméad seo forléargas ar chur i bhfeidhm na straitéise agus ar na príomhghníomhaíochtaí a comhlíonadh faoi gach ceann de na cúig thosaíocht straitéiseacha.

Táimid anois ag forbairt ár Ráiteas Straitéise do 2027–2030, agus ba mhaith linn bhur dtuairimí a chloisteáil.

Tá an dréacht‑Ráiteas Straitéise ar fáil anseo. Leagann sé amach ár gcúig thosaíocht straitéiseacha don chéad cheithre bliana eile:

• Fáiltiú acmhainne agus scálaithe • Tacaíocht do chleachtas gairmiúil sábháilte agus éifeachtach • Leathnú cosán chuig an gClár • Comhréireach don chosaint phoiblí • An luach a bhaineann le rialáil a dhéanamh infheicthe don phobal

Tá na tosaíochtaí seo múnlaithe ag an rannpháirtíocht le páirtithe leasmhara níos luaithe i mbliana, agus ag ár machnamh ar an tírdhreach athraitheach cúraim sláinte agus cúraim shóisialaigh in Éirinn. Anois, ba mhaith linn a fháil amach an léiríonn siad bhur dtaithí agus bhur dtosaíochtaí, aon bhearnaí a aithint, agus bhur dtuairimí a chloisteáil maidir leis na gealltanais atá déanta againn.
