Appointments to Council and Registration Boards – January – June 2025
The Minister of Health made a number of appointments to CORU’s Registration Boards between January and June 2025.
Health and Social Care Professionals Council
Professional members: Annemarie Bennett was appointed as representative of the Dietitian Registration Board. Julie O'Donnell was appointed as representative of the Social Workers Registration Board. Jillian Flaherty was appointed as representative of the Optical Registration Board as a Dispensing Optician.
Lay members: Nigel McKelvey, Hugh O'Donoghue, Cathy Doyle,Andrew Conlan-Trant, Ruairí McKiernan and Joe Dowling were appointed as representatives of the interests of the general public. Lucia Crimin and Jackie Bonfield were appointed as members with valuable qualifications, interests, and experience.
Optical Registration Board
Lay members: Jason O'Regan was appointed as a representative of the management of a voluntary or private sector organisation concerned with health or social care, and Donal Keane was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public.
Dietitians Registration Board
Professional members: Fatima Iftikhar was appointed as a representative engaged in the practice of the profession, and Barbara Shinners was appointed as a representative engaged in the management of services provided by the profession.
Lay members: Tim Hinchey was appointed as a representative of the management in the private/voluntary health/social care sectors, and Justin Kerr was appointed as a representative of third level educational establishments involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.
Counsellors and Psychotherapists Registration Board
Professional members: Joanna Fortune was appointed as a representative engaged in the practice of the profession, Peter Ledden was appointed as a representative engaged in the management of services provided by the profession, and Iseult White was appointed as a representative engaged in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.
Lay members: Martina Ryan was appointed as a representative of the management of the public health sector, the social care sector or both sectors, Ciara Heavin was appointed as a representative of third level educational establishments involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession, and Shane Kelly was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public.
Occupational Therapists Registration Board
Lay members: Shane Knox was appointed as a representative of the management of the public health sector, the social care sector or both sectors, Michele Kerrigan was appointed as a representative of the management in the private/voluntary health/social care sectors, and Bernadette Moran was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public.
Podiatrists Registration Board
Lay member: Norma Judge was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public.
Psychologists Registration Board
Professional member: Edmond O’Dea was appointed as a representative engaged in the practice of the profession.
Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board
Lay member: Uchenna Ezeokeke was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public.
Social Workers Registration Board
Lay members: Mairead Cahill was appointed as a representative of third level educational establishments involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession, and John O'Mullane was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public.
