ELECTION OF MEMBERS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPISTS REGISTRATION BOARD (S.I. No. 468 of 2016)

Notice of candidates validly nominated

Notice of election of members for appointment to the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board and request for nomination of candidates for two electoral categories was published in the Irish Times newspaper and on the website of www.coru.ie on Monday 28 March 2022

The closing date for receipt of nominations was 12 noon on Friday 29 April 2022.

Candidates for Category 1: Registrant engaged in the practice of the profession

As only one nomination paper was received for category one in which there were three vacancies, this candidate is deemed elected in electoral category one.. The name of this candidate will be submitted to the Minister for appointment to the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board as a member of electoral category one.

In accordance with the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended) and the bye-law governing the election procedures (S.I. No. 468 of 2016), two members are to be appointed by the Minister under Section 28(6) to compensate for the deficiency in the number of elected registrants for electoral category one.

Candidates for Category 3: Registrant engaged in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.

No nomination papers were received for the vacancy in electoral category three for the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board.

The Returning Officer formally declares that in accordance with the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended) and the bye-law governing the election procedures (S.I. No. 468 of 2016), one member is to be appointed by the Minister under Section 28(6) to compensate for the deficiency in the number of elected registrants in electoral category three.
