Mo Flynn appointed Chairperson of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council at CORU

Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD has appointed Ms. Mo Flynn as the Chairperson of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council at CORU.

CORU is Ireland's multi-profession health and social care regulator. Its role is to protect the public by regulating the work of over 20,000 health and social care professionals across a range of different professions.

Ms. Flynn originally trained as a Social Worker, holds an MSc in Gerontology and previously was a member of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council at CORU from 2014 to 2019. She has significant chairing and board membership experience in a wide range of organisations working with professionals across many disciplines, including as Chair of The Carers Association and as President of the Irish Gerontological Society. She also has experience of public boards as a former Ministerial appointment to the Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA). She was the Group CEO of the Rehab Group from 2015 until 2020 and is currently on the Governance Committee of the Charities Institute Ireland.

Commenting on her appointment Ms. Flynn said, “I am absolutely delighted to be taking on this important role and look forward to supporting the work of CORU over the coming years. With ten registers open, CORU now regulates 20,000 health and social care professionals. Regulation protects people who use health and social care services and provides them with confidence about the quality and consistency of care they can expect. I look forward to working with CORU to ensure this effective regulation continues, while also overseeing the implementation of regulation over additional designated professions.”
