Appointments to Council and Registration Boards - April to June 2019

A number of appointments to Council and Registration Boards were made by the Minister of Health between April and June 2019.

Health and Social Care Professionals Council

In April, James Forbes was re-appointed to Council as the representative of the Social Care Workers Registration Board and Irene Regan was appointed as the representative of the Medical Scientists Registration Board.

In May, Julia Shaw was appointed as the representative of the Podiatrists Registration Board.

In June, John Weldon was appointed as the Optometrist representative of the Optical Registration Board while Owen Blee was re-appointed as the Dispensing Optician representative of the Optical Registration Board.

Dietitians Registration Board

The Board welcomed the appointment of Anne Griffin as a representative practising in the profession in May 2019. 

Occupational Therapists Registration Board

The Board welcomed the appointment of Genevieve O'Halloran as a representative practising in the profession in May 2019.

Optical Registration Board

Seamus Boland was elected Chairperson of the Board in May 2019.

Social Care Workers Registration Board

Catherine Carty was elected Chairperson of the Board in April 2019.

Social Workers Registration Board

In May, the Board welcomed the appointment of Caroline McGregor as a representative engaged in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession and Marie Kennedy as a representative of of the management of services provided by the profession in May 2019. 

Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board

The Board welcomed three new appointments in May 2019: Emma Gonoud and Geraldine Moran as representatives practising in the profession and Anne Healy as a representative engaged in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.
