Appointments to Council and Registration Boards - January to March 2021

The Minister for Health made a number of appointments and re-appointments to Council and Registration Boards between January and March.

Health and Social Care Professionals Council

Michael O’Keefe was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public and Genevieve O’Halloran was appointed as the representative of the Occupational Therapists Registration Board.

Mary A.T. Flynn was re-appointed as the representative of the Dietitians Registration Board and Irene Regan was re-appointed as a representative of the Medical Scientists Registration Board.

John F. Scott, Treasa Campbell and Stephanie Manahan were re-appointed as representatives of the interest of the general public.

Fred Powell was re-appointed as a representative of third level establishments involved in education and training. Margaret Boland was re-appointed as a person with the qualifications, interest and experience of value to the Council.

Counsellors and Psychotherapists Registration Board

Carole Glynn was appointed as a representative involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.

Dietitians Registration Board

Fiona Dunlevy was appointed as a representative engaged in the management of services provided by the profession and Kathleen Walsh was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public. Mary A.T. Flynn was appointed as a representative practising in the profession. Geraldine Murray was chosen as the new Chairperson of the Board and was re-appointed as a representative of the management of a voluntary or private sector organisation concerned with health or social care.

Medical Scientists Registration Board

Mary Hunt was re-appointed as a representative of third level establishments involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.

Occupational Therapists Registration Board

John Hanily and Dawn Johnston were appointed as representatives of the interest of the general public and Rosemary Smyth was appointed as representative of the management of the public health/social care sectors. Eilish Macklin was re-appointed as a representative of the management of a voluntary or private sector organisation concerned with health or social care.

Optical Registration Board

Paul Arthur Hersee was re-appointed as a representative practising in the profession and Fionnuala McGee was re-appointed as a representative of the management of the public health/social care sectors.

Physiotherapists Registration Board

Gillian Walker is the new Chairperson of the Board, replacing Niamh Murphy upon the expiry of her term. John Biggins was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public and May Cleary was appointed as a representative involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.

Social Workers Registration Board

Perry Share was re-appointed as a representative involved in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession.

Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board

Evelyn Cawley was appointed as a representative of the interest of the general public and Gerard Gray was appointed as a representative of the management of the public health/social care sectors. Bernard Hegarty was chosen as the new Chairperson of the Board, replacing Judi Pettigrew.
