Kathleen Walsh

Kathleen Walsh is a registered general nurse, with a MS in Nursing, MSc Healthcare Ethics and Law and a Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Quality and Risk Management. She has held various positions within healthcare regulation and nursing. This includes several years with the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council as Programme Development Officer responsible for Education and Standards.  Prior to this she was with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland for over 15 years, as Project Officer for the introduction of nurse and midwife prescribing and then as Professional Officer for Standards of Practice and Guidance.

Kathleen served as a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland’s Professional Practice Committee and represented the International Council of Nurses on the World Health Organisation expert working group for its Global Patient Safety Challenge on Medication without Harm. She is a member of the Medico-Legal Society of Ireland. She has recently commenced on a new career pathway – Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) undertaking foundational courses in horticulture and training/development, seeking to utilise this knowledge with her qualifications to contribute to the growing discipline of STH within Ireland.
