Jan Guerin
Dr Jan Guerin graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1998 with a PhD in Immunology. Subsequent to this she moved to Sydney as a visiting research fellow and lecturer with the National Centre for HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research (renamed the Kirby Institute) at the University of New South Wales. From 2004 to 2008, Jan was employed as In vitro Diagnostic Product Manager with the Health Products Regulatory Authority (previously the Irish Medicines Board), giving her comprehensive insight and direct experience of working as a regulator within a Competent Authority with the protection of public health and safety being at the forefront.
Dr Guerin is currently Assistant Head of the School of Biological and Health Sciences in Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin). In her senior management role, Jan is actively engaged in the leadership, management and strategic development of the School, ensuring best practice in professional education through engagement with Professional Bodies, CORU, clinical partners and industry stakeholders. More recently, Jan has gained extensive experience and knowledge in the CORU requirements for approval of education programmes in regulated professions and this experience has provided invaluable insight into the ethos, regulatory framework and strategic direction of CORU as Ireland's multi-profession health regulator.
Jan has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is a member of a number of Committees within and outside the University. A key aspect of Jan’s professional roles to date has necessitated skilled management and development of strategic relationships with regulatory and professional bodies, clinical partners, pathology laboratories, biopharma and molecular diagnostic industry sectors.
