Dermot Manning

Mr. Manning is a barrister who’s practice includes asylum and immigration law, judicial review, employment and tort law. Mr Manning has a Bachelor of Civil Law Degree from U.C.D. and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business. Mr. Manning obtained a Barrister-At-Law Degree from Kings Inns in 1992 and was called to the Irish Bar in 1992 and to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 1999. Mr. Manning also obtained a Professional Certificate in Corporate Governance from the I.P.A., Dublin in 2018.

From 2001 to 2013 Mr. Manning was the Assistant Editor of the Irish Law Reports and was Editor from 2013 to 2017. Mr. Manning has been a Chairperson of the Mental Health Tribunals since 2006, and was recently reappointed for a further three year term.

From 2013 to 2020 Mr. Manning was a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland as a public interest representative. During his tenure he chaired the Registration Sub-Committee of the Board, and was a member of the Education, Training and Standards Sub-Committee.

In 2023 Mr. Manning was appointed as a part-time member of the International Protection Appeals Tribunal for a five year term.

Mr Manning was the President of the Medico Legal Society of Ireland from 2009 to 2011. He is currently the Honorary Auditor of the Society.
