Dermot Manning has been a practising barrister since 1992. His practice includes asylum and immigration law, judicial review, probate law, landlord & tenant law and tort law.
Dermot has a Bachelor of Civil Law Degree from University College Dublin (UCD) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies from the School of Business in UCD. Dermot graduated with a Barrister-At-Law Degree from Kings Inns and was called to the Irish Bar in 1992. He was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 1999. He obtained a Professional Certificate in Corporate Governance from the Institute of Public Administration, Dublin in 2018.
Dermot served as the Editor of the Irish Law Reports from 2013 to 2017 having previously being the Assistant Editor and has been a Chairperson of the Mental Health Tribunals since their establishment in 2006.
Since 2013, Dermot has been a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a public interest representative. He currently chairs the Registration Sub-Committee and is a member of the Education, Training and Standards Sub-Committee.
Dermot served as the President of the Medico Legal Society of Ireland from 2009 to 2011 and is currently the Honorary Auditor of the Society.
