Brendan O'Dea

Brendan O’Dea is a former deputy director of the Teaching Council, with overall responsibility for the register of teachers, teacher registration processes, Fitness to Teach, garda vetting and the development of further education teaching qualifications.  Brendan oversaw the development and implementation of an updated digital register while with the Teaching Council.  Prior to working in the Teaching Council, he worked with the Citizens Information Board and was a commissioned officer in the Defence Forces.


Since retiring in 2019, Brendan has been a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Board’s Preliminary Proceedings Committee (PPC) and is chair of the Register of Irish Sign Language Interpreters registration panel.
