How long does the Garda National Vetting Bureau (NVB) Vetting take?
The vetting carried out by the National Vetting Bureau (NVB) can take a number of weeks and is outside the direct control of CORU.
Will I have to be Garda / NVB Vetted?
Some application types may be required to complete the eVetting process with the National Vetting Bureau (“NVB”). It is a requirement of registration. You will be advised by the Registration department if you are required to complete NVB eVetting.
What does eVetting involve?
You are required to complete the eVetting process with the National Vetting Bureau as it is a requirement of registration.
eVetting will involve the following steps:
- Download eVetting Invitation Form (NVB1). You can do this on the ‘eVetting’ page in the applicant portal when you are entering your information to apply online.
- Complete eVetting Invitation Form.
- Bring proof of identity and current address to the CORU office in person. The Registration department will provide an appointment for you to visit the CORU offices with your documents.
- You will receive an email inviting you to apply for vetting online (within 1 week).
- Follow the link in the email to complete the eVetting Application Form (NVB2) online.
- You will be notified by email when the eVetting outcome has been received by CORU.

If I already have an NVB Vetting report from my employer, can this be provided instead?
No, CORU must receive the NVB vetting report directly from the National Vetting Bureau.
